Plagiarism Policy

Biosciences Research Reviews is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ensuring that all published content is free from plagiarism. To uphold the credibility of the journal and ensure the originality of research, the following plagiarism policy has been established:

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else’s work, ideas, or intellectual property as one’s own without proper attribution. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, data, or figures from other sources without citation.

  • Paraphrasing another author’s work without proper acknowledgment.

  • Using ideas or concepts from other sources without crediting the original author.

  • Submitting the same manuscript or parts of it for multiple publications (self-plagiarism).

  • Falsifying or fabricating research data or results.

2. Plagiarism Detection

To ensure the originality of all submissions, Biosciences Research Reviews uses reliable plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin or iThenticate, to screen manuscripts before the peer review process. All submitted articles will be checked for similarity with existing published works, including books, articles, and web content.

  • Threshold for Similarity: Manuscripts with a similarity index of more than 20% (excluding properly quoted and referenced material) will be subject to further review.

  • Types of Plagiarism Detected: The software detects both textual plagiarism (direct copying) and self-plagiarism (reusing one’s own previously published content without acknowledgment).

3. Pre-Submission Requirements

Authors are expected to submit original work and to acknowledge all sources used in the research. Before submitting a manuscript, authors must ensure that:

  • All citations and references are correctly formatted and complete.

  • Any ideas, data, or text from other authors are properly cited and referenced in accordance with the journal’s referencing style.

  • If the manuscript has been submitted elsewhere or previously published in part or full, authors must declare this in their cover letter. Dual submissions are strictly prohibited.

4. Handling Plagiarism Cases

If plagiarism is identified at any stage of the review or publication process, the following steps will be taken:

During the Review Process:

  • If significant plagiarism is detected in a manuscript, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision or rejected if the plagiarism is deemed severe.

  • The author will be asked to provide a detailed explanation for the similarity or duplicate content found. If this is not satisfactorily addressed, the manuscript will be rejected.

Post-Publication:

  • In cases where plagiarism is identified after an article has been published, the article will be retracted, and the author(s) will be informed.

  • The retraction notice will clearly explain the reason for the retraction, and it will be made publicly accessible.

  • If necessary, the issue will be reported to the author’s institution and any relevant academic or professional bodies.

5. Consequences of Plagiarism

  • Rejection of Manuscript: If plagiarism is detected in a submitted manuscript, it may be rejected or returned for revision, depending on the severity of the issue.

  • Retraction of Published Article: If an article is published and plagiarism is discovered afterward, it will be retracted, and the authors may be banned from submitting to the journal for a specified period.

  • Reporting to Institutions: In cases of serious or repeated plagiarism, the authors' institutions may be notified for further investigation and action.

6. Ethical Considerations

  • Correct Citation Practices: Authors must follow proper academic citation standards, ensuring full acknowledgment of the contributions of other researchers and authors in their work.

  • Transparency: Authors should be transparent about their sources and methods, and ensure all data is presented honestly and accurately. Any manipulation or falsification of data will be considered a serious violation of ethical standards.

7. Collaboration with Ethical Bodies

Biosciences Research Reviews adheres to the ethical guidelines set by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and works in collaboration with relevant institutions and publishers to address plagiarism and ensure academic integrity. We also encourage authors to check their work for plagiarism using reliable software before submitting it.

8. Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring the originality of their work.

  • Properly citing all sources, including direct quotes, paraphrased material, and ideas taken from others.

  • Not submitting previously published work or significant parts of previous work as new submissions.

By adhering to this Plagiarism Policy, Biosciences Research Reviews seeks to promote high standards of academic honesty, integrity, and responsibility in research publication.
